March 2016 Newsletter

March was a club day with no demonstrator so as usual we had the big lathe out and a few small ones so my report is again one of some pictures and just a few words.
It’s called a cop out!!

Remember this?
Last November Tony Handford turned a hollow form from a log that was a wart from a beech tree. He rough turned it and then passed it to Norman to finish off in a few months time and then use as a raffle prize in one of our charity events.

Well here it is. Norman finished hollowing it out and turned and finished the outer to what you see here. A fantastic prize for some lucky person

There will not be a meeting in April because the trip to Yandles is on that day.
This will be the last one for possibly a few years so after this, no more missed meetings.

Our next club meeting will be on Saturday 14th May when we have Greg Morton with us for the day.
I think we are all familiar with his work, he seems to have been around for ever.
This is definitely not one to miss so lets see lots of bums on seats on the day.

We have also fixed a date for our charity event at Woodlands.
It will be Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June and we will be supporting The Marie Curie cancer research fund.
If you have any pieces to donate please see Dawn or any member of the committee to pass them on.
We have also been given the go ahead to have a gazeebo in the carpark where we can have a small lathe running and possibly produce things that can be sold on the spot.
